API 5L X52 is a medium- to high-strength pipeline steel widely used in the petroleum and natural gas industries for long-distance transmission. It provides improved strength and toughness compared to X46 while maintaining good weldability and formability. X52 is suitable for pipeline projects requiring higher safety and pressure resistance.

In terms of chemical composition, X52 maintains a low carbon content, usually below 0.26%. Manganese content is moderately increased to enhance strength and impact resistance. Silicon serves as a deoxidizing element to improve microstructure uniformity, while phosphorus and sulfur are strictly controlled to ensure toughness at higher strength levels. In some cases, trace alloying elements may be added to further optimize performance.

X52 is widely used in oil and natural gas pipelines, particularly in demanding long-distance, cross-border projects. It is suitable for operation in complex geological and climatic conditions. With higher strength and reliability, X52 has become a common choice for medium- to high-end pipeline engineering.
